R. Kelly Says “Best of Both Worlds” Was Originally For Tupac

by DG

In an interview with XXL Magazine, R. Kelly spoke about his plans to originally do the album with Pac before his untimely death:

“Well ‘I Wish’ was basically about Tupac at first. I met Tupac in L.A. at the [Hotel Nikko], and he was rolling by in his drop-top whatever hot car. I seen him, and I yelled out, “‘Pac! ‘Pac!” He was driving by, rolling by himself. I’m like, ‘This nigga got a lot of balls to be rolling by hisself!” So we kicked it for a minute, I said “Dude, we need to do an album.” See, The Best Of Both Worlds was for me and Pac at first. “I Wish” was gonna be the first song we were gonna do.”

Kells also had plans to release a sequel to the Best of Both Worlds album, with a second version that would collab with Cash Money Records. However, the album was never put together, as Baby blames Kels for the project’s fall apart in an interview with Ozone Magazine.

“Probably the worst investment I did was f*ckin’ with R. Kelly,” Baby said in a February 2010 interview. “That was a waste of my time. I could’ve made money if I wasn’t f*ckin’ with that clown-a** n*gga.”

Gucci 3D Glasses Coming Soon

by DG

Perhaps we were being unfair with Oakley’s $150 3D shades — that company, in fact, just didn’t go far enough. Cut to Gucci with “optically correct” Real D frames of its own. No wraparounds, it’s all glass forward, and like we said last time, you’ll be the absolute most fashionable person in a crowded room full of people decidedly not looking in your direction for the entire duration of the glasses’ applicable use. Look for these to hit your local US Gucci boutique — if you have to ask where, it probably wasn’t on your purchase list anyway — for $225. Your move, Louis Vuitton. 3D-Display-info, Softpedia, Engadget

Lil Wayne to be Released in 4 Days

by DG

Lil Wayne is writing furiously in anticipation of his post-prison return to Hip-Hop, family and the free world.
“He hasn’t written out rhymes since the Hot Boys,” Birdman told Rolling Stone in the November edition of the magazine. “There’s a different swagger coming from Wayne, different things to talk about.”

Lil Wayne has served eight months in Rikers Island in New York on weapons charges. The rapper recently was banished to solitary confinement after guards found an mp3 chargers and headphones in his cell, forbidden items considered contraband.

Manager Cortez Bryant said that the new material focus largely on his time incarcerated, life and success.

“He’s had time to take everything in from the years leading up to this to going in,” Bryant said. “He’s finally been able to put things in perspective.”

When he is released, Birdman aka Baby said Wayne will go straight to the studio to record his new material. Wayne is expected to release Tha Carter IV in early 2011.

“He’s our super superstar, he’s our Michael Jackson.” Birdman said. “We did great while he was gone, and I know we’re going to do even better when he comes home.”

Lil Wayne is set to leave Rikers on Nov. 4. He is expected to spend time with his immediate family and then have a party in Miami.

Mike Brown is Now Coaching Middle School Football

by DG

Brown is an assistant coach for the Westlake Lee Burneson Middle School team that his 13-year-old son, Cameron, plays on in Ohio. After being fired by the Cavs, Brown is using this season to spend more time with his wife and two teenage sons. He didn’t pursue opportunities during the summer to return to the NBA as a head coach and turned down an offer to serve as an assistant at St. Mary’s College in California. “I’m a glorified equipment guy who gets to chest bump and high-five the players,” Brown said. “The kids still call me coach.” Yet as much fun as Brown is having with his family, he hopes to return to the NBA next season. “If the opportunity presents itself, I’d love to be back coaching,” he said. “The fire to coach is burning, but I also believe in family first. … I wanted to take this opportunity to reconnect with my kids, my wife.” Brown coached the Cavaliers from 2005-10, taking them to the NBA Finals in 2007, when they were swept by the San Antonio Spurs. While the Cavaliers had the NBA’s best regular-season record the past two seasons, they underachieved in the playoffs, failing to reach the Finals each time. Brown was let go on May 25, leaving with the franchise’s highest winning percentage after going 232-178 in his five seasons.

The Cavs are paying Brown the $4.5 million he was due this season over the next six years.
